L3130 3-point Won't Raise

Wed, 02/22/2012 - 23:32
I'm a brand new member with a 2002 L3130 with 850 hours on it. Just finished splitting wood with a 3-point splitter (as I do most weekends) that connects into the tractor's hydraulics. The 3-point hitch would not pick the splitter up. Disconnected it from the tractor (3-point and hydraulics) and the arms still wouldn't raise. I've chained the 3-point lift arms up so I can use the tractor and front bucket while I figure out what the issue is. (Splitter still out in the woods...) I've changed the hydraulic fluid (11.1 gallons!!) and filters (2). I know I have fluid pumping to the rear hydrualic block under the seat that serves the 3-point hitch as I disconnected the feed line and started the tractor. Lots of fluid being pumped... I've adjusted the feedback rod in both directions and still get no movement from the 3-point. I'm about to remove the whole rear hydraulic block and tear into it, but am unsure if I'm going to create a bigger problem by doing so. Any ideas?

U Ship if you ever need something big and heavy, hauled

Wed, 02/22/2012 - 04:41
Was looking at quotes for getting our BX 2200 shipped and was astounded and depressed at the expense. We actually were going to cancel the tractor and get me a huge soviet era sickle for cutting the darn grass! Then someone recommended a site called U ship, where shippers literally throw themselves at youin the form of bids. Though these bids were surprisingly cheap, we wound up discovering that our local Kubota dealer has a shipper who moves their stuff, so we were able to get a quote from them at $250, shipped right to our place. Outfits like Oak Harbor frieght wanted over $900 and we would have had to pick it up at their facility in Spokane, 60 miles away.:eek::eek::eek: Anyway, though we didn't use them, we were still amazed at the bids. If ever you guys need some equipment shipped, you might check them out.

Quad Shopping

Tue, 02/21/2012 - 15:33
I'm in the market for a new quad or side-by-side, my old Honda is just about through. She's really getting weak, and I need something with 4-wheel drive that I can pull a trailer with and plow snow with. I've had luck with Honda in the past, any suggestions?
Much Appreciated!

I've been busy...

Tue, 02/21/2012 - 04:01
Totally stripped down my Meyer's manure spreader and have been rebuilding it from the frame up since October. I ended up finding a lot more rust than I had originally thought, and ended up replacing the axle assembly because I noticed it was rusting through and bending. I had them build a new axle that was longer so I could put the floaters on there instead of the skinny semi tires that were on there originally. It has turned out really well, better than I had hoped. When we started, the frame was rusting through, the wood was all rotten and falling off, and the beater paddles were badly bent. The only thing holding the front on was the hydraulic lines, and the end gate was ripping through the upper mounts. There were holes in the sides covered by plywood, and the apron had jumped two cogs on one side and twisted all the cross slats. I added a splash guard around the front of the spreader so the manure doesn't splash out the front when you slow down to turn onto the lane. My neighbors and anyone driving down my road should be a lot happier now! :D Looks a little better now...

This is heart wrenching.

Tue, 02/21/2012 - 01:04
When illness forced vets to remove Great Dane Lily’s eyes, the prospects of a fulfilling life didn’t look good.
But then no one had reckoned on her pal Maddison stepping in to turn guide dog.
The pair have been inseparable for years but now find themselves looking for a new home because their owner could no longer cope.
Manager Louise Campbell said: ‘Maddison is Lily’s guide dog. If they are out and about, for the majority of the time Maddison will lead and Lily will walk nearly touching her so she knows where to go. It’s lovely to watch. Maddison is always looking out for her.’

The catch for anyone interested is that the Great Danes come as a package. They have been waiting at the Dogs Trust re-homing centre in Shrewsbury since July. Lily, six, was barely a puppy when she was struck down by a condition that caused her eyelashes to grown into her eyeballs, damaging them beyond repair.
It was after this traumatic event that her relationship with seven-year-old Maddison developed as she took her under her wing.
The best buddies lived together until their owners decided they couldn't look after them any more.
Miss Campbell said: 'With her lack of sight, Lily's other senses have heightened so although we don't split them up often she can tell if Maddison is nearby.
'They curl up together to go to sleep and they are very vocal with each other.
'We haven't analysed their different barks but if Lily wants to go forward and Maddison is in her way, the bark will have a different pitch. They are very close to one another and enjoy each others company. Miss Campbell said that Lily does all the things normal dogs do and if you saw her from a distance you wouldn't realise she had anything wrong with her eyes.
She added: 'They are really happy with life, the glass is always half full with these two.
'They have been with us for a considerable amount of time but they are quite happy and go about their daily routine - they are very affectionate.'
She believes the dogs' size and advancing years, as well as the fact they have to come in a pair, may have put off potential owners and she warned that anyone contemplating taking the dogs in should look at their lifestyle and think of the responsibility involved.
'They are not gigantic when you see them outside. These are two lovely big girls who deserve to live out the rest of their lives together in comfort', she said.

Dogs Trust cares for around 16,000 stray and abandoned dogs every year through a network of 17 re-homing centres.

Ford 445 cold natured

Mon, 02/20/2012 - 21:59
I just bought a ford 445. It has about 5000 hours on it but is in excellent shape. Here in NC it does not get that cold but on mornings when it is below 40 it can be hard to start. I have replaced the manifold heater and it is working properly.

I have also replaced the injectors to correct a fuel leak.

On colder mornings I heat the tractor for about 30 seconds and have to pull the throttle all the back to get it to start. It takes right much turning to get it to fire, and it barely idles when it does start even at full throttle. After a few seconds it does catch up and I can idle it down.

Any ideas?

Bang Tidy Rims!!!

Mon, 02/20/2012 - 17:44
Hi, can anyone find me some bang tidy steel wheels for my vectra? Im looking for any wheel thats between 7.5 and 8.5 inches wide (195-215) and 18 inches diameter. Stud spacing doesnt matter because im going for a new look and im thinking a billion bolts doesnt look too bad. Preferably with an offset between 138-144. Offset doesnt matter too much though, Ill need adaptors anyway so a few spacers wont go amiss. Im looking to put low profiles on it so I think it may have to be a tubeless rim, but I will admit I know very little and if it doesnt matter just let me know. Cheers, Aaron.

Widow-maker trees!

Sun, 02/19/2012 - 16:59
Just got off the phone with my brother. He was cutting wood by himself saturday. He was bringing down a 100 ft tall poplar that was dead.
He said that it fell into another tree, that broke off several of the dead limbs, that came flying back at him. He said that he saw a 10' x 3" branch flying at him and side stepped it, he said that he didn't see the one that hit him.
He was struck on the face at his left eye. His eyelid was torn loose and glasses smashed. He couldn't see out of his left eye. He found one of his lenses and held it and a rag up to his face, while he drove himself to the landowner's house.
The landowner is a Dr, so she did some preliminary assessment, then they took him to the emergency room.
The left eye was scratched, but the vision loss was attributed to blood clouding the fluids, blocking light.
The retina is OK and Dr said that vision should return in a few days.

At that same time, 70 miles west, I had a 100 ft dead locust get 'hung up'. It's refusing to fall. I tried to pull it down with the PU. I was not alone, but we couldn't get it down. The vines have it stuck! It's still hanging. I know that if I try to cut the tree it's stuck on, it will splinter and try to kill me, then the big one will fall where I would be working..
I'm going to get the biggest, nastyest chain 'come-along' I can find today and pull the base till it comes down. I managed to get it off the stump, but it won't fall.
I told Jack that if we get nothing else done today, that tree was going to hit the ground.
The tree is located 100 ft up a hill, so the only vehicle we can get near it is a 4 wheeler. We were using 100Ft wire rope hooked to the pickup to tug it.
The chain come-along is supposed to be here in 1/2 hour.
WATCH yourself!! Try to take someone with you when you cut! Trees are dangerous!

4410 Tachometer Sticks

Sun, 02/19/2012 - 15:55
New to the site and excited to be a member after having looked around a bit. Looks like lots of geat folks play here!

Here's the deal: 4410 HST. After I owned it for about 20 hours of run time the tach started stcking. The needle would sit around 20 and not come down. Still under warrantee . . . no biggie. Deere fixed it free by replacing the instrument cluster. No explanation as to what was wrong.

Now I'm about 800 hours into this machine . . . warrantee is long gone . . . and the exact same problem has recurred. When I turn the machine off, tach goes to zero. But when it's on, regardless of engine speed, it's reading around 20. Sometimes a sunspot will happen or a meteor will fly by and it'll decide to indicate accurately, but mostly it just sits around 20.

Do others have this problem? Is there a known fix? Ill live with it before I'll spend a couple of hundred on an instrument cluster. But I'd be happy to find a cheap fix.

Thanks!
