Backhoe attachment

I own an MX5100 4wd kubota and have considered purchasing a backhoe attachment for it.  The prices I have seen put it around $6000 for the attachment.  What extra services would the backhoe bring to the table?  I can't see where the cost versus the added benefit of the backhoe add up.  Seems to me the backhoe is a waste of money.  I would like to hear from an owner with a backhoe attachment to get their view.
